| I am really excited about Ponyo! Watched it this weekend at AFO and was thinking the whole time "I want to watch this with my Kaedmon. I want to watch this with Vanessa. I can't wait 'till we can watch this with Anya." US release date is still (I think) August 14th.
Please everyone, let's all go see it together.
I sent a link this morning to hymnia about an [anime] movie we learned about (but couldn't remember the exact title) in the "What Anime Should I Watch?" panel (hosted by Daryl Surat). As she pointed out, it seems likely that it had some influence on Rahxephon (which I completely enjoyed...and frankly, I like it better than Eva so nyah, nyah, nyah!). Also, In spite of the excellent information in the panel, that question still burns in my mind: what anime should I watch?
So then I recalled some info from the Dragon Ball panel about how it was based on "Journey to the West" (along with a number of other manga/anime series)... and in turn stumbled upon the probable source for the name "Nagini". Interesting...but then, J.K. Rowling is very clever with all the names in the HP universe. --And then went back to reading about Journey to the West (which I will finish reading after this post).
All that to say, it kinda makes me want to read the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature. Ok, so, what anime novels should I watch read?
I'm also going to go out on a limb and say, I think Naruto might actually be a decent show if it weren't for all the Naruto fans...yeah, that's pretty much the problem right there; too bad I'll probably never watch it now. Blech.

| Not sure which one I like better....
Guitar Solo at 2:51 and 2:55 respectively.
I really like this song. This was my favorite? best? song that we played for the Easter service tonight. I have mixed feelings about lots of things...I mean, it was good but...I was tired, worn out from playing/rehearsing too much, too new of strings, dizzy/out of focus, couldn't hear right...played way below peak, out of tune, meh...different things going on in my heart...mixed feelings...
--but this song, I really like it. Sometimes before the 'show' or when the 'show' is all over, when I can feel/think straight again, this is where the real worship happens. | comments: 1 comment or post comment |
| I see the king of glory Coming on the clouds with fire The whole earth shakes The whole earth shakes
I see his love and mercy Washing over all our sin The people sing The people sing
Hosanna Hosanna Hosanna in the highest
I see a generation Rising up to take their place With selfless faith With selfless faith
I see a near revival Stirring as we pray and seek We're on our knees We're on our knees
Hosanna Hosanna Hosanna in the highest
Heal my heart and make it clean Open up my eyes to the things unseen Show me how to love like you have loved me
Break my heart from what breaks yours Everything I am for your kingdoms cause As I walk from nothing to Eternity

| So...we're very close to buying a house. Will probably submit an offer next week....and all through the house hunt I've been thinking about landscaping/ponds/lawns/gardens.
I've long said that I hate lawns and couldn't wait to buy a house so I could rip the lawn out. But recently I've been reading about other Floridians growing Zoysia instead of evil, evil, water-wasting, pesticide-sucking, ugly, scratchy, worthless St. Augustine grass (blech!) --except that zoysia supposedly needs to be cut closer to the ground than your typical gas mower can handle...
So then I began toying with this idea of putting in zoysia but ditching the obligatory-gas-driven-rotary-mower (or lawn service) in favor of greener and more enjoyable alternatives. I really think I could handle reel mowing a small, short, zoyzia lawn of a couple hundred square feet...and it would make such a nice, soft hammock+bare foot zone. :D ...right next the cool koi pond...and soothing waterfall...and fragant jasmine vines...and shady fig trees....and gentle wisteria blossoms...ah...
--but then after starting to do some preliminary shopping for reel-mowers, I found out about an even more retro method of lawn maintenance! So, naturally, I'll have to go with this tradition instead. Right after I master the arts of mead-brewing, vinyard-growing, leather-tanning, falconry, and spear-hunting wild boar. Updates to follow.

| "...an individual best achieves optimal stupidity on those rare occasions when one is both given substantial powers and insulated from the results of his or her actions."
I think this essay may be old but it was interesting to me. Not sure if I even agree with his basic premise but I would agree at least that there is cultural problem surrounding wikipedia and an accompanying risk for abuse.

| My little boy said 'da-da'!
I am confident that he has no idea what import this small utterance carries. No, indeed, he cannot know the delighful significance of such an inconsequential linguistic unit. And yet...I am confident this tender lad knows one thing for true: he is my son and I am his dad.
... "Can you say da-da ? Say da-da, buddy. Wave to da-da" ... <he smiles.> < he waves.> "da-da." ...
Yup, that's my boy! | comments: 4 comments or post comment |

| In honor of my son's recent birth (and his uncanny resemblance) we're watching E.T. tonight.
Vanessa has also rightly pointed out that Kaed (I'm often calling him just 'Kaed') sometimes makes the Zoolander face. Perhaps he will grow up to be a male model? He is, after all, really, really, really, ridiculously good looking. ok enough of that...
